The highest post-glacial shoreline (Lauhanvuori, National Parks)

The top of Lauhanvuori is surrounded by a steep bank that formed ca. 10,500 years ago when the last ice age ended. The top of Lauhanvuori was exposed as a small island in the middle of the postglacial meltwater lake, Ancylus Lake. Land uplift has since moved the seashore far away, and today this remnant of a past seashore is located over 200 metres above current sea level. The seashore history can still be seen in the geomorphology and vegetation of the area.
