There are several seasonal wetlands on the top of Alkkianvuori. These form when meltwater gathers into depressions in the spring. During the summer, the waters of these small ponds seep into the ground, leaving a mossy meadow. The vegetation in the seasonal wetlands is typical mire vegetation, but there is no peat forming.
