In the center of Kauhaneva there are small ponds and bays at Kauhalammi Lake. The rugged trees standing on small peninsulas get all their nutrients from rainwater, which is typical of the center plateaus of a bog. The site is accessible by a duckboard trail.

  • The surface pattern typical of raised bogs has formed during the last 3,000 years. The pattern consists of dry ridges, or hummocks, that circumferentially surround the center of the bog. There are wet passages between the creams. The pattern has been influenced by frost, frost and water flow.
  • The hummocks are relatively easy to navigate. They grow sparrows and trees.
  • There may be ponds in the depressions or passages of the oasis bog. They are shallow and peat based.
  • The passages may also have a vegetated surface. However, they are damp and can be submersible. Moss and sedges are found in vegetation.
  • The maximum peat thickness in Kauhaneva is about 5 meters. The thickest layers of peat are located on the western edge of Kauhalampi.
