Messukallio (Kaidatvedet, Other areas)

Messukallio is a roche moutonnee situated by Lake Kaidatvedet. The name means mass cliff. According to folklore, a party of people were once travelling to church along the lake and got shipwrecked in bad weather. The survivors of the accident wanted to hear the mass on this cliff to ease their distress and sorrow for the ones who did not make it. Even today there is an outdoor church on the site.
