Lake Spitaalijärvi is the largest lake at Lauhanvuori. There is a small raised bog on its northern shore, which appears as patches of brown and green. The colours indicate the presence of vegetation in the winding hummocks and wet hollows. The lighter green is the rannoch-rush, which is a grassy plant that thrives in mire. Heather, which shows up in the image as swaths of magenta, grows on the hummocks. The softly contoured summit of Lauhanvuori can be seen on the horizon. Lake Spitaalijärvi formed on the slope of Lauhanvuori behind a sandy embankment and has no natural outlet.
