Huidankeidas from the air (Huidankeidas, Mire protection areas)
At Huidankeidas, the surface of the bog is dotted by hummocks and hollows, some of which are filled with water. From the air, the landscape looks like a colourful mosaic, where blue ponds and the broken, earth tones of the bog play off of each other. The peat moss appears in varying shades of brown and red cross the landscape, while the hummocks are daubed by magenta swaths of heather and hollows glow yellow-green with rannoch-rush. The surface structure of the bog was formed by the flow of water, vegetation and climate.
