Signs of an earthquake long ago (Lauhanvuori, National Parks)

A fault line caused by an earthquake some 9000 years ago runs diagonally across the northern part of Kivijata stone field. It is visible in as a shadow in this photograph taken on a summer evening. The land northeast of the fault line was uplifted for one to two meters in during the earthquake. Even though the fault line is sharp in the bedrock, the soil cover masks it quite well. It was found during a national laser scanning campaign.
