The formation of a kettle hole (Hämeenkangas, Other areas)
There are several kettle holes on Soininharju and Niiniharju. The largest are Koivistonvati and Niiniharjunvati (vati = plate). Smaller kettle holes occur along the top of the ridge. Kettle holes form when an iceberg is buried into sand and gravel. A depression forms when the iceberg melts away.
