History of the airfield of Jämi (Hämeenkangas, Other areas)

The Jämi airfield was built during the 1930's. A favourabel spot had been created by glacial activity and the waves of the post-glacial Ancylus sea. The airfield soon developed into one of the most important recreational aviation centers in Finland. Today small aircraft, sailplanes and UAV's fly frequently at Jämi. There is also an active parachute club in the area.
