Geopark is a shared international brand for unique geological sites. Geoparks aim to promote geological tourism, the preservation of geological heritage, the teaching of science, as well as advancing business in line with sustainable development. Strong local commitment is the backbone of Geopark.

Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas Aspiring Geopark is a region for geo and nature travel formed by Suupohja in South Ostrobothnia, Northern Satakunta and municipalities in Northwestern Pirkanmaa. Metsähallitus, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), enterprises in the region, as well as associations and stakeholders are applying for UNESCO’s Geopark status for the area together.
